5K Fashion Friday!

Be sure to enter my giveaway for Mama Micki’s vegan cookies – you have until tomorrow (Saturday 9/22) at 11:59PM EST to enter!

I’m still so relieved to know that I’m not alone in feeling what I shared on Tuesday. I would never be happy that others are experiencing any negative emotions, but it is comforting to know I’m not alone, and I can see that many of you share the same sentiment. I always get paranoid when I open up here but I never end up regretting it because you’re all just so very kind and understanding!

This seems like a fitting time to announce that I recently signed up for the Love Your Body 5K on Saturday, October 20th! The run is being put on by the CT Chapter of the National Organization for Women and will take place at the beautiful West Hartford Reservoir. I highly encourage anyone in the area to sign up and join fellow blogger Maria and I on Team #AmazingMeThere’s no “official” sign-up process to start a team, but if you sign up and want to join us then simply shoot me an email and let me know so that I can keep you in the loop on where we’ll meet up before the race and costumes(YES we are ABSOLUTELY dressing up and suggestions are welcome!)

My dear friend Jenny and I on a hike in the Reservoir!

Registration is just $25 before the race and $30 on race day, so if you’re on the fence you won’t be losing out on too much money by deciding to show up last minute. But you MAY lose out on the advance notice needed to put a costume together :-P fair warning! Proceeds benefit the CT NOW Foundation and they are still looking for sponsors, so if you are a local business interested in showing support for an empowering movement then you can email them here!

Now let’s get down to it. I know you guys enjoy Fashion Friday and I do too, even if it means I’m slowly revealing the  size of my closet to the public – it’s actually a small closet, but way more full than it should be. Oops. But fashion makes me happy (and so does donating clothes I don’t wear anymore!) so I will keep filling (and periodically emptying) that closet of mine with more material for more Fashion Fridays. After all, there are 52 Fridays in a year!

Disclaimer:I am completely kidding and am in no form promising you all 52 (multiplied by 4-5 outfits per post) unique outfits per year. Now that would be obscene.

Unless you have a metabolic disorder, you are too skinny. Few can step back and recognize it in the moment, but the disordered problem is nonetheless there and growing. I urge you to step back, to look at your own body and lifestyle, and have others do the same. returning to normalcy will only become harder and harder as more time passes.

Hi Emily, thanks for your concern. Unfortunately you aren’t telling me anything I don’t already know – I wish that someone commenting on my blog was all it took for me to “fix” things, then I’d welcome these kinds of comments! But in reality I don’t because in this journey it is so important to stay positive. Since you don’t know my journey or how far I’ve already come I can just shrug you off, but I just hope you remember that even if you’re trying to help, your way of doing so is not helpful.

We know we are not alone intrinsically, but always need that reinforcement when we’re feeling down and are not in our best form. So glad to be of any help to you! I respect the way you get back on your feet again, because it takes me a lot longer to do that myself.

I’ve been in such an emotional rut lately that I haven’t even been able to wear decently cute clothing at all…now this post just motivated me to get better and feel good once again! Thanks Caitlin ;) Looking forward to seeing the 5k costume!

Thank you for your as always thoughtful comment Asuma! I am also so happy to hear that I inspired you to put on a cute outfit and be your cute self. It really is amazing what an emotional turnaround good clothes and fun accessories can bring about!

Don’t ever feel paranoid about opening up on your blog! As you know lots of people can relate to how you feel, but also remember its not normal to feel that way over food and events and we have the power to overcome that by making strides in our recovery and just keep on taking the ED head on and beating its stupid thoughts so its not as loud! You have been doing great so far!
I want those wedges!! Those are absolutely the cutest things ever! Love!
That 5 K sounds like such a fun event!! I’m clueless on costume choices though, I’m sure you’ll pick a winner!:) E-mailing you back today!

Can’t wait to hear from you! I know you understand – I never feel paranoid sharing with you. I guess sometimes I feel afraid that someone will misunderstand what I’m trying to say especially if he or she hasn’t gone through this. I know I never understood the true nature of an ED before I unfortunately experienced it myself. Yes the wedges seem VERY Lisa haha

I LOVE that you’re rocking a Samantha bow! I used to live and breathe American Girl Dolls, and still adore them. I’m actually hoping to stop by American Girl Place (the AG store) before leaving NYC tomorrow. We’re never too old to play with dolls (or wear their accessories), right? ;-p

Your pink-soled Tom’s are so cute, and the wedges are super chic and fun! Love it. Hope you had a great weekend, Caitlin! xoxo

p.s. I almost forgot to tell you…I ate at Pure Food and Wine tonight and thought of you and Heather! Someday I’ll eat there WITH you. <3

OMG Sara are you gonna post about it? Please say you will! I’m SOOO glad you went there! I dreamed of the AG Place when I was younger and first heard it’d opened. By the time I moved within distance of one though I was too old to be as excited! :-/
