Harry and David Chocolate Strawberry Giveaway!

Holiday traditions make me smile, even those my family no longer practices. Harry and David plays a role in one of those traditions; when I was younger, I remember noticing a Harry and David catalog on my mom’s desk and excitedly looking through it to marvel at the beautiful fruit baskets and delicious desserts available for purchase. The catalog’s presence could be explained by my grandfather – he had a major sweet tooth, and at Christmas my mom knew she could always count on a Harry and David treat to make the perfect present.

WIAW: The Usual

The holidays are fast approaching, so be sure to check out my pvBody review to find out how you can get 20% off your first box of surprise fitness fashion! Perfect for the fit lady on your list, even if she is YOU!

I’m really glad you guys enjoyed reading more about me in yesterday’s post with my answers to the Liebster Award survey that’s been going around! I had a blast writing it and doing so reminded me of how much I enjoy writing personal posts. I feel like sometimes as a blogger, it’s easy to get caught up in sharing experiences with restaurants, events, and products. While I truly enjoy those things and love talking about them on this blog (just look at any of my wordy restaurant recaps and you’ll see what I mean), I sometimes fail to leave time to blog about the author of this blog…aka me!

Ribbon Giveaway Cancelled

Hello all,

I wanted to explain what happened to the post and giveaway I did earlier about Ribbon Gift Cards. I honestly thought the product idea sounded cool and I linked to my friend’s page where one can purchase these gift cards, on a site called Amway.

A reader pointed out to me in the comments that Amway has been involved in class action lawsuits, FTC investigations, and more since as early as the 1970s. I looked more into it and while nothing has ever been proven and lawsuits have only been settled, I do not feel comfortable promoting a website like this on my blog. I certainly do not stand for any of the shady business practices Amway has been accused of, even if they are unproven at this time.

WIAW: Sensational Salads Tutorial

Just wanted to throw out a quick reminder to you guys that discount codes for both Sprigs products I’ve reviewed, Earbags and Banjees, are still valid! Check out my reviews if you’re still on the fence – these would make great holiday gifts for a fit friend/family member OR you 😉

Thanks for your fabulous feedback on my wonderful weekend (I don’t think it’s possible to OD on alliteration right?). I did experience some challenges in relation to these good times – a lot of anxiety and guilt over dining out several days in a row. But blogging my experiences focuses my attention on the reasons I’m too blessed to be stressed, and your comments only add to my ability to focus on the passion and peace I feel when I am enjoying myself with my friends.

Vision, Brilliance, and Trumbull Kitchen

My best friend Lidia and I had tickets to go see The Connecticut Forum‘s Vision and Brilliance panel at the Bushnell for a couple of months, and finally the big night arrived this past Saturday. Here’s the event description, from the Forum’s website:

“This live, unscripted panel conversation brings together a diverse group of popular experts, each with their own unique field of study and view of the world. The Forum will be fast paced and surprising, as [the panelists] discuss their own work, and so much more… technology, science, design, new ideas, our changing world and possibilities for our future. Bring your sense of wonder to this conversation with big thinkers and visionary minds.”

The moderator and panel, ready to discuss vision and brilliance.

Max Amore Monday

Happy Monday! Yes, happy. Let’s try to make it that way. I had a great weekend and a lot of marvelous things to share with you over the next couple of days. Let’s get down to it.

It’s no secret to regular readers that I am a huge fan of the restaurants of Max Restaurant Group. Two locations, Max Fish and Max Amore, are even in my hometown. Talk about convenient! But can you believe it – I had only been to Max Amore one time, back in June 2007, for my high school graduation dinner. And to be honest I don’t even count that visit, because I wasn’t a foodie and was still an extremely picky eater. I’m pretty sure I ordered pasta with butter. Maybe there was plain grilled chicken involved.
