A Summer MIMM

Thank you for the enthusiasm for Bestowed and my giveaway for one of their monthly boxes of healthy snacks! I’m happy to announce the winner, but remember if that person is not you, there is still the promo code “5OFFBESTOWED01”, which does not expire and can be entered at checkout for $5 off your first box (regularly $19). For just $14 (shipping is included) I definitely think it’s worth a try! Enough blabbering – the winner is Jess W! Congrats and I will be contacting you about getting your prize!

I hope everyone had a marvelous first weekend of June! Well, Friday night was still May, but that’s neither here nor there. The point is it FELT like June. The weather was perfect all weekend along and I couldn’t be more grateful! While I felt low during some portions of the weekend, today I want to address the marvelous, which thankfully far outnumbered the mal (Spanish for “bad”).

Thanks Katie for keeping us positive on Mondays when it’s often most needed!

Marvelous is…your “Hey, It’s OK!” suggestions! I’ve seen healthy living “It’s OK!” ideas in comments, blog posts, and Instagrams in response to my post from last week – and I’m loving them.

I forgot to include Kristi‘s suggestion in my post – I am so not on the chia train either!

Alyssa nailed my signature move in this comment - healthy food accompanied by alcohol.

Marvelous is…writing a guest post for Kaitlin while she was away in Germany! She got back yesterday (thank goodness, I missed her on G-chat) and while she was off travelling Europe I had a post published on her blog – about my first ever TRX experience. Also, her fiance Jeff wrote the most adorable guest post on his proposal from his perspective, so be sure to give that a read too.

Yowza.

My core was sore for a week after this workout!

Marvelous is…my first-ever summer country concert and tailgate experience! It couldn’t have possibly been more marvelous either since I shared the experience with my amazing blend Kelly and her hubby Nick. We had our evening with Luke Bryan planned for quite awhile but the night sure arrived before we knew it! BONUS: I spent just $6 the entire evening! Thank you nip-smuggling, food-and-water-packing, and free parking (though it was a couple miles from the venue, hence the $6 to pay for a cab at the end of the night to get back to my car).

Love my reusable red solo cup wine glass – purchased at Bed Bath & Beyond when I visited Kaitlin!

I had to celebrate the whiskey love with Nick.

Ran into my friend and fellow food blogger Devan from UConn - she is a cooking genius and guest posted for me in the past!

I also got to see another friend named Kelly - and birthday girl!

Luke is an amazing performer, but even he could not keep me at the concert past 11!

Marvelous is…wearing my new Under Armour jersey to the gym on Saturday morning AND the pool in the afternoon! I love the fun colors and how well they fit with the hot weather.

Quenching a beer craving – who am I?!

Marvelous is…Kat and her whole family joining my sister and I at the pool! Oh yes, so much baby cuteness ensued thanks to Penelope, the guest of honor. And of course, lots of Lilly Pulitzer and bubbles ensued as well.

Isn't her swimsuit adorable?!

ALL THE LILLY.

ALL THE LILLY.

Just two ladies lounging poolside…I got her that polka dot diaper cover!

Marvelous is…seeing my brother off before his senior ball! Damn, time flies. I felt so old watching all these high schoolers I don’t know take their pre-ball photos.

Lookin good Michael!

Marvelous is…dinner at one of my favorite chains, Bonefish Grill, with my family on Saturday night! Bonefish FINALLY has a CT location in South Windsor’s Evergreen Walk (and a second opening this month in Newington!) so the fam has been very anxious to pay a visit…especially since they have a lovely outdoor patio! I have to admit I had a hard time enjoying this meal – due to my own mental stuff going on. Again, I want to expand in a later post. My ego was tripping me up. But it was still a marvelous event and the food was DELISH as always.

And such a cute takeout box for leftovers!

Marvelous is…waking up at 6:45am on Sunday morning feeling like a fresh new daisy. I dashed to the gym just in time for the 7:15a spin class and got in a kick-ass workout filled with ALL THE HILLS. I adore wearing my Ellie top to spin because I sweat the more during those classes than any other fitness classes I take, and this shirt sure is breezy, for obvious reasons.

Luckily the gym is pretty dead that early on a Sunday, so not TOO many people were judging me while I took this gym selfie.

Marvelous is…starting my Sunday pool date at 9:30am! Oh yeah baby, not a single moment of a beautiful day wasted. It was a bit of a fail though because I got to the pool so early, the gate was not even unlocked yet, so I chilled at the baseball fields next door for a bit until I could get in. Not sketchy or anything.

I’m in LOVE with my Lilly Pulitzer bathing suit from RueLaLa!

Fashion magazines, Whole Foods black iced coffee, and plain Chobani + banana. Match made in heaven.

Marvelous is…a disco nail hand polish change! Who needs a $12 manicure when I can get a polish change for $8.50?

Now it’s time to get the work week underway. As the song says, I’m workin’ for the weekend. But seriously, I am.

What was the most marvelous part of your weekend?

Have you had any pool and/or beach days yet?

What are you most excited about this summer?
